If you have a passion for fashion, and a good sense of style, then a career as a personal shopper could be right up your street. You don’t need any formal qualifications, but there are courses available. If you have a degree in a relevant subject like fashion design or marketing, that will give you a good background and added authority. There are opportunities to work for designers and retail outlets as an in-house personal shopper, or you might prefer to work for yourself and set up your own business. Either way, there are things you can do to gain the necessary experience and learn the skills you need to be successful.

Experience
Whilst you might consider yourself knowledgeable enough to start advising customers straight away, the more experience you have of the industry the better you will be equipped to help prospective clients. One of the best ways to gain experience is to spend time working in a fashion store, where you will learn the craft of excellent customer service and build your expertise in finding the right outfits for a wide variety of clients. Wherever you live, you should have a range of stores near you, so check out who is hiring, or make enquiries with the business directly. Many firms have their own job websites, and there are employment agencies and employment websites that list current vacancies, for example the Dillards careers page on the Job Application Center website.

Networking
Like many careers, it’s very important to get to know people in the industry, and get yourself known to the people who matter. Some of the best jobs will be headhunted, that is personal shoppers will be targeted and approached by an agency on behalf of an employer. If you want to be in line for these premium positions, you need to raise your profile and bring yourself to the attention of the movers and shakers. Having your own website and/or social media accounts where you regularly post interesting content is a good way to show off your talents. You should also attend as many fashion related events as you can, so you become a familiar face on the scene.

Learning
Fashion is a constantly shifting phenomena, and you need to keep abreast of all the latest trends and designs. Sign up for emails and newsletters from leading authorities in the trade, and follow the prominent members of the community on Twitter to make sure you know what’s happening and what’s new. You need to be living and breathing the industry to ensure you stay on top of what’s going on, and to demonstrate your grasp of and commitment to the essentials of your profession.
If you can add experience and expertise to your skills as a fashion fan, you have a good chance of building a very successful and rewarding career. It’s very satisfying helping people to look their best, and if you do a good job you will soon have clients queuing up for your services.

These days, the majority of engagements have a diamond engagement ring as part of the equation. On average these rings cost around $4000 and more. That's a large price tag for an item of jewellery and there are certain ethical concerns you may not be aware of until you have purchased the ring.
Do you know where the item comes from? Even if you received a certificate, there's still a chance your money will be used to found conflict.

What is conflict diamond?

A conflict diamond is one that has been mined in a war zone and then sold to finance war and confrontation. The effects of these conflicts can be simply devastating, and even have worldwide repercussions.

The good news is there are ways to avoid purchasing a conflict diamond engagement ring. Serendipity Diamonds, in particular, pride themselves on selling conflict-free diamons. You can visit their website for more info.

Tip 1: Go Canadian
Canada tends to go beyond the well-known Kimberley Process to make sure its diamond are conflict-free. These diamonds are tracked through an approach that includes the Canada Mark and the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct. Most Canadian diamonds will be laser-inscribed with tracking numbers, which makes their origin very easy to trace.

Tip 2: Choose Synthetic Diamonds
Artificial diamonds have become really popular and could well be the key to long-term diamond sustainability. These diamonds are created in a lab and can be bought in a variety of incredible colors at as much as 20 to 30 percent less than mined diamonds of similar quality, size and color.

Tip 3: Check Out Reputable Jewellery Stores
If you're looking for a vintage cut diamond, like this bespoke diagonal three stone ring, try looking in reputable jeweller stores that sell antique pieces.
Tip 4: Embracing your Inner Tree Hugger
The entire idea that diamonds have always been a symbol of love is pretty much a marketing ploy that was created by DeBeers, a rather ethically-troubled company that even today maintains a strangehold on the diamond industry. The company is known to artifically decrease diamond supply to raise their prices.

Get your ethically sourced diamonds from a reputable jeweller

Reputable jewellers, such as Serendipity Diamonds, are all about coming across something stunning quite by chance. Such jewellers pride themselves on creating exceptionally beautiful diamond jewellery that has been ethically sourced. They offer a wide range of precious metals and even 100% ethical Fairtrade Gold which has been crafted.

Be sure to take look at their throughly luxurious collection of diamond engagement rings. Jewellers like them have gone the extra mile to make sure you have a choice of reputably certified rings to choose from for your beloved.

In my previous post I've promised to reveal the reason why the 10th of September is going to be such a special day for me. At first I didn't want to share this kind of personal information, but then I realized my blog represents more than some pictures and outfits posted from time to time...it is my reflection. So...here it is: on 10.09.2016 I will get married. We are excited and a little nervous, but we can't wait for the big day to arrive. I know there is enough time left, but we like to plan things in advance. Therefore, we have already booked the place, the band and the photographer.  This days I am looking for the dress, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to write me. Now, when I am still open and placable and haven't become a walking monster called bridezilla :)

Searching for wedding rings I came across this lovely site where you can find what I prefer to call a girl's best friends: jewelry. But what I have liked the most about this one is the fact that all the jewelry are custom made. Yes, you've heard me...custom made. You can choose the size, the style, the stone quality, the carat weight and the metal type. You can build your dream wedding rings and not only as there you can find pendants, necklaces, bracelets or earrings as well. Bonus? Free shipping worldwide. Isn't that cool?

Moreover, they are celebrating their 10th anniversary. "The Gemstone Destination" has come a long way and they decided that the best way to celebrate it is by thanking to all the customers that made this thing possible in the first place. Thus, if you will take a look at their website you will see how many great promotions are right now. They have created a special catalog page which showcases their "most exclusive" jewelry. Use code 10YEARS at checkout and you'll receive 20% off on any jewelery you can choose from that catalog page.

Adorning oneself with jewelry has been consistent across space and time, across religions, cultures, class and gender. Choosing the perfect jewelery can be difficult, but making your dream ones to exactly match your personality, style and taste...well...my dears, that is awesome. I wish happy ten years to Angara and I look forward to be a part of their many celebrations to come as well as yours!
Have a nice day,
Valentina

First impressions often have a great impact on your success at work and even your company's success. Therefore think about your wardrobe choices and the appropriate work wear.
While we may want to rebel and say that our skills should be enough, first impressions, especially your clothes and appearance make a  much stronger first impression. It goes back to the old adage :" A picture is worth a thousand words", encouraging you to put your best look forward at all times. While you need to look smart for interviews, it's even more important that you look the part and portray the company you're representing properly. Therefore, some companies are even enforcing dress codes.

Why First Impressions Matter

  • Your work wear sends a message to every person that you encounter throughout the day. It shows them how you see yourself and how you want others to see you. You wouldn't want to be season as casual or sloppy, you want to be seen as competent and professional so you need to look the part.
  • If you wear mismatching outfits, potential clients may miss your expertise as they'll often pass you by. They'll only find out how smart you are if you actually get to chat with them. Therefore, it's beneficial to splurge on some appropiate work wear choices where you're dressing for the job you want at the company. Clients will think your business savvy and listen to you which will look good for your company also.
  • It's important to pay attention to how others in the company dress. You want to fit into the industry and not stand out like sore thumb. If you work in art gallery, wearing a dark, boxy suit may stick out so you may choose something with more colours. It's important to choose the highest quality garments from well-known workwear suppliers. Be consistent with your choices and show up each day well put together.

The importance of a Dress Code

Company dress code may vary by the type of business. That's why, to avoid wrong interpretations, it is important for workers like us to understand the dress code that our company implements. If you work in a financial firm, the dress code regulations may be different than if you work in an old-fashioned 1950s diner. Nevertheless, if you're working in a professional setting, you'll have to make sure that your attire from workwear suppliers will carry the specifications and the expectations of the company, such as formal business suits or dress suits, as well as lightweight blazers over wrinkle-free dress pants. Remember that you're not working in a place where it's allowed to wear casual attire like sandals or tennis shoes; only use closed-toe dress shoes.
Alternatively, if you work in a diner or other more laid back businesses, they can still enforce a dress code so that all of their employees look professional, such as matching polo shirts, black pants or skirts. Most importantly, they'll want you to put your best look forward so that customers see the best part of their business.

As dress codes are created, remember to follow them because if you become too casual, other employees may become casual about their work ethics as well by not finishing projects on time or dressing how they prefer anyway. That's not the kind of first impression you want other to get of your workplace, is it?

Enough about work! It's Friday and I know you must be looking forward for the weekend, but do not forget to think about your work outfits for the next week!
Hope you'll find my advice useful!
Have a nice day,
Valentina
