Elsa Schiaparelli, one of the most influential designer of the interwar years, and the greatest rival of Coco Chanel, once wrote:" If a woman walks in and people say what a wonderful dress, she's badly dressed". If they say there's a beautiful woman, you know she's well dressed". I have quoted this because understanding it really is the foundation of developing your own style.
First of all, I must say that for me classic doesn't mean vintage or out of fashion. For me it means modern elegance, wearing pieces that will never go out of style, staples that can be layered, mixed and matched in order to create an abundance of clean, timeless looks.
Take, for instance, these wide-leg trousers from Kurtmann.ro. These stunners look amazing with a slim tee and sandals for a night out, or a blouse and pumps for the office. They are great for short legged women like me, as flared pants are very leg lengthening when they fit well at the top. Be sure to wear them with high heels though. Buy them long! I don't the look of wide pants that are too short. It's nice when you pants hide your shoes.
